About
Hi, I’m Estel.
Exploring where AI, intelligent systems and human creativity meet.
Who I am
An undergraduate studying Electronic Information Engineering at Wuhan University, with an enduring curiosity about the world.
I seek clarity through reason while leaving room for wonder. Drawn to technology, photography, and travel, I also find joy in cooking, gaming, and the little things in life.
I believe knowledge matters not only in what we discover, but in how we care for others. I hope to put what I learn to good use and make a difference, however small.
With kindness at heart and purpose in every step. Eyes on the stars, feet on the ground.
The name
Starward, Steadfast.
Estel carries the image of the stars — of hope, and of conviction.
Space is a space of my own, and space itself: exploration, and the unknown.
海一 comes from 四海归一, “the four seas return as one” — a reminder to stay open, calm and steady.
What I explore
Four questions I keep returning to.
Artificial Intelligence
How models perceive and decide — and how to tell when they can be trusted.
Edge AI
Running models close to where data is produced, within real limits of latency and memory.
Brain–Computer Interfaces
Reading EEG in real time, and turning signals into states a person can act on.
Computer Vision
Measuring the physical world with cameras — from pixels to millimetres.
How I create
Engineering, software, and visual stories.
01
Engineering projects
Complete systems with a clear purpose — from requirements and architecture to implementation and testing.
- C++
- OpenCV
- MFC
02
Software & models
Real-time pipelines, data formats and interfaces — and mathematical models that make decisions explicit.
- Python
- PyQt5
- Optimization
03
Visual storytelling
Photography, and pages like this one — deciding what to show, and what to leave out.
- Photography
- Web
Along the way
A few chapters so far.
2025
Wuhan University
Began studying Electronic Information Engineering — signals, circuits, programming and the mathematics underneath.
2026
Huazhong Cup, First Prize
With two teammates, modeled green urban delivery scheduling for a mixed fuel and electric fleet.
2026
CVRSSP
Designed and built a ten-camera steel plate measurement system in C++ with OpenCV and MFC.
2026
Microgrid modeling
Modeled electricity purchasing and energy storage for a community microgrid under uncertainty.
Now
EEG Edge AI
Exploring real-time EEG analysis and how research models can run close to the device.
Personal side
Observing, and recording.
Photography and travel are how I observe and record the world.
A camera makes me slow down — to wait for the light, to notice a stranger’s gesture, or to see a familiar campus as if for the first time.
The best way to know my work is to see it.
